Therapy

About me

My name is Charleen, a qualified integrative counsellor offering a supportive and grounded space for you to explore whatever you’re going through. My work is rooted in the belief that therapy should feel real, human, and accessible. I work from a grounded place, drawing not only on my training, but also on my life experience, meeting you as a whole person, not just a set of issues or labels.I am a trained and qualified counsellor and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within their ethical framework to ensure the space we create together is safe, respectful, and held to professional standards. More information about the ethical framework can be found here. It’s deeply important to me that the therapy I offer is inclusive and affirming of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences, including people of colour, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people from working-class backgrounds, those with faith or spiritual beliefs, and anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t quite fit.I also believe that therapy should be financially accessible. I offer a sliding scale where possible, and I’m always open to a conversation about what’s manageable for you.Accessibility, in every sense of the word, is at the heart of what I do. I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and free to show up just as you are.

How I work

I work in an integrative way, meaning I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what you need. My approach is rooted in humanistic and existential perspectives, which means the focus is on you—your values, your lived experience, and what gives your life meaning. We might explore things like identity, relationships, freedom, purpose, or uncertainty. There’s no expectation to be anyone other than who you are in the moment. Over time, therapy can help you feel more connected to yourself, more at ease with your emotions, and more able to make choices that feel right for you.I can support you with a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to:

Anxiety and worryDepressionGrief and loss
Relationship difficultiesSelf esteemStress and burnout
Cultural identityTraumaSexual identity

I offer therapy sessions both in person and online, depending on what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.In-person sessions take place in a quiet, private room where you’ll have space to speak freely and feel at ease. If you prefer or need more flexibility, I also offer online sessions via Zoom or Google Meet, a good option if you're juggling a busy schedule, have mobility needs, or simply feel more at home in your own space.Whichever format you choose, you'll receive the same level of care, presence, and support. Before you decide whether to begin therapy, I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation. This is a chance for us to briefly talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit with no pressure or obligation to continue.

is this therapy right for you?

You might be considering therapy because something feels difficult, uncertain, or too heavy to carry on your own. Perhaps you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—from yourself, from others, or from life. You don’t need to have all the answers to begin. Therapy can be a space to start making sense of things, in your own time.I work with adults from all walks of life, and I’m especially committed to offering an inclusive, affirming space for people of colour, members of the LGBTQ+ community, those from working-class or low-income backgrounds, and young adults navigating identity or life transitions. I also support people who are experiencing relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem, or simply a sense of being lost.If you’re looking for a therapist who offers warmth, honesty, and curiosity—someone who sees you as a whole person, not a problem to be fixed—this approach might be a good fit.
